This simple project results in a unique flower! To make a flower, a student uses
markers to color a flattened coffee filter. Then he holds the filter over a covered
surface and uses a spray bottle to gently spray water on the filter. He turns the
filter as desired to mix the colors. While the filter is drying, he names his flower
and writes on a copy of a vase pattern a descriptive paragraph about his flower.
After he cuts out the vase, he gathers the filter in the middle and attaches a pipe
cleaner stem. To complete the project, he tapes the flower's stem to the back of
the vase.

stick!

To make a butterfly, a student folds a 6" x 9" sheet
of construction paper in half. Then he cuts a butterfly wing shape in the paper and
glues a flat wooden clothespin to the center to make the butterfly body. Then he
draws or paints a symmetrical design on the wings. To complete the project, he draws
a face on the clothespin and tapes pipe cleaner antennae to the back of the
butterfly.
