Prior to making a windsock, a child chooses an animal to research and lists five facts about it on a large index card. To make a windsock, he uses a variety of art materials to create the animal and its habitat on a 9" x 12" sheet of construction paper. The child also writes the animal's name in the top center of the paper. He staples the paper to form a tube and glues paper strips to the bottom. Then he punches two holes at the top of the windsock and ties on a yarn hanger. He suspends the windsock and displays the index card nearby.
